Photography assistant Polaroids from long time ago…

In the late 90’s I was fortunate to help manage a commercial photographic studio in Cape Town, which introduced me to a lot of amazing photographers, whom I got to assist on shoots and on location. The lessons shared with me changed my photography forever, from happy snapping to setting up and running proper shoots for clients, working on the creative process with clients and models.

These are a collection of Polaroids taken by some of Cape Towns best photographers while assisting on set…you always need a stand-in for the model when setting up so you can be ready for the shoot when needed. In the days of film, before digital, a Polaroid was the only way to see your set and lighting for adjustments on a shoot.

No grey hairs and some of the best days of my life, was such a pleasure to learn from them and to now be able to pass on much of my knowledge to younger photographers and creators :-)
